East Canyon Camping Trip 2010

Several months ago our group started talking about doing a camping trip the weekend after the fourth. Dustin requested the time and it was accepted, but time was getting closer, and we didn't have a place to go. So...I called up the group, we all realized we still wanted to camp, and I took the bull by the horns and found us a place to go!

We went to East Canyon Lake, it was close and available. I was excited because we were able to get one campsite on the lake and the other just a few sites up the street. When we first got there I was a little panicky because there were no trees, and we were pretty close to the other campsites. But, everyone was great and we just went with what we had. By the end of the trip there were very few complaints to be made.

Friday afternoon we all packed up and headed East. There were six vehicles going, and about 22 of us ready to enjoy one anothers company and nature. It took us a couple hours for everyone to get there and set-up. The dirt was incredibly hard, and even more rocky, which made setting up tents quite the adventure. There were several rounds of words, but once we were setup and there the unwind began.

Friday evening we made a campfire, made dinner, and enjoyed all of the company! We were up until wee hours of the night and everyone was full of laughter and fun!

Saturday was hot, but the water was refreshing, the floatie toy was entertaining, and the conversations enjoyable. Carter was out of his comfort zone for awhile so Dustin and I piled him in the car and went for a ride in Morgan. He eventually fell asleep and we headed back for camp. He slept for a few hours and so did most of the adults in the campground, taking turns of watching one anothers kiddoes.

Saturday night was very relaxed. Dave brought his boat and most of us got a ride for a little bit. We then docked the boat and came back to an amazing dinner Dustin had cooked. We stayed up talking and enjoying the breeze and chill after an extremely hot day.

Sunday morning we made breakfast, cleaned up camp, and headed back home. It was such a nice getaway with some of my favorite people out there. We are already trying to organize calendars to plan at least one more trip before summer comes to a screeching end!
